Theresa Phondo releases new Afropop praise song ‘Yewo’

Theresa Phondo has just released her latest project ‘Yewo’. This is her second release of the year, following the success of her chart-topping single ‘Testimony’, which earned her playlist placements on Spotify’s African Gospel Hits and RADAR Africa editorial playlists, reaching over 170,000 listeners.

Yewo’ meaning “Thank you,” is an upbeat Afropop and praise song expressing gratitude and devotion to God.

“Acknowledging God as the provider and ultimate being who is worthy of all praise. His creation, protection, love, and the sacrifice on Calvary are more than enough to be grateful for, so Yewo,” explains Theresa.

Continuing her borderless approach to music, Theresa collaborates across Africa to reach listeners “across the pond.” With audio production by Nigerian producer Jostopac and visual production by South Africa’s Da Mos, ‘Yewo‘ aims to raise the bar with quality and excellence.

With a staggering 108,000 listeners on Spotify, making her the second most-streamed artist in Malawi, Theresa has much to be grateful for. She was recently honoured as one of the 100 most inspiring women in Malawi by Wealth Magazine. Her song ‘Blessings’ has been featured by celebrities such as Meagan Good, Gabrielle Union, and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, making it the most streamed Malawian song on Spotify.

“Colossians 2:6-7 reminds us of the importance of gratitude and spiritual steadfastness: as we received Christ Jesus as Lord, we should continue to live our lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as we were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. That is the heart of ‘Yewo,’ and I hope this message resonates as you dance and sing along,” says Theresa.
