Shimon encourages with new song ‘Myself’ for Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is from Monday 13th May to Sunday 19th May 2024. The theme for this year is “movement” and we have a fresh new release that is sure to get you going with your dance steps. Good for the mind, body and soul.

Lagos-born UK-based singer-songwriter and doctor by profession, Shimon Atunde turns the popular Nigerian expression “I can’t come and kill myself” into an irresistibly catchy song in the new single ‘Myself’.

“I can’t come and kill myself” is an expression that means you can’t dwell on things that aren’t working out or looking good. Shimon’s new single is a feel-good anthem that captures the smooth vocals as they glide over his signature brand of AfroGospel.

“I can’t come and kill myself,” Shimon sings, “for the worries wey dey give me stress o.” He gives a reminder to us listeners, that an easy attitude to life is what works. We are to acknowledge God is in control of our worries by standing on His Word knowing He makes all things work for our good.

The song also features TJ Sarx who gives a nice cameo and definitely adds to the flavour of the song. The two artists’ voices combine well in the latter part of the song to elevate what is an already meaningful tune.

I urge you to take a listen to this sweet tune. It comes just in time for Mental Health Awareness Week and compliments the good weather outside. It is sure to brighten your day.

If you ever needed to hear it: “All [those] Ls will turn into yes. [You] will enter his rest.” Can we get an amen to that?
