Noel Robinson‘s latest song release ‘You Are Unrivalled’ is seeing increased rotation on airwaves and in churches and that perhaps speaks to the power and relevance of the lyrics more than anything else. The song seeks to remind the listener of the sovereignty of God in the earth and in our personal lives. A global pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war and more, have truly shaken everything that can be shaken even our personal faith, belief systems, civic, civil and cultural conditionings. The song is a confession of humanity’s ability to create idols in our ambitions and acquisitions and to place the worship of these idols above the knowledge and the worship of God.
The theme of Jesus as unrivalled brings alive the thought and truth that He is above all things and even in this season of uncertainty He truly is sovereign over every detail of our lives. The tension of living in that place of misplaced affection and reverence for the things we love or possess really calls us to constantly check that we don’t create idols in our lives. So in our confession and living, we cast down idols and say, ‘Let nothing in our breath be compared to you. Let nothing we possess take the place of You. Jesus, You are Unrivalled!
Noel is back in the UK after leading worship at the Morris Cerrullo International Legacy Centre in San Diego, California last month. (Noel has been a constant worship leader in the global ministry of the now-deceased evangelist Dr Morris Cerrullo for 20 years and has travelled the globe with him.) On Noel’s return to London, he told A Step FWD, “The world has gone through an incredible time of shaking, and for some, even their faith has been impacted. So it was so encouraging to gather for 3 days in California with over 500 fearless believers who recognise that our prayers, intercession and Worship places God on the throne of our hearts. What a declaration of God’s supremacy that despite what the global political, social and spiritual climate God is Unrivalled’ and he still on the throne.”
