Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin bring “Kingdom” world tour to The Netherlands

It’s indisputable: Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin are among the very best in the world. And they have a lot more in common. They each have broken through all the old boundaries between genres and cultures in a short time. They won GRAMMY awards, had hit songs that will be heard for years to come and love a multifaceted approach that makes an impact. Now Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music are touring the world together with the “Kingdom” tour. On August 23rd they will visit The Netherlands; on that day, the very best of the gospel and worship genre will hit the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam!

The world tour of Maverick City and Kirk Franklin is called “Kingdom” for a reason. With everything they bring, they want to reflect God’s Kingdom: multifaceted, welcoming, revolutionary. Kirk Franklin has been doing just that since his debut over 30 years ago. The tireless artist fuses gospel, hip hop and soul/R&B together. Kirk became world famous with his groups The Family and God’s Property, but it was mostly his energetic, radical style and at the same time catchy music that made him a phenomenon. The hits speak for themselves: ‘Lean On Me’, ‘Revolution’, ‘I Smile’, ‘Stomp’… the list seems endless! Kirk and Maverick City Music worked together on the album “Kingdom Book One”, which they recorded live inside a prison with a choir of inmates. With his latest album “Father’s Day”, the adopted Kirk may have made his most personal album yet. He presented it after finding his biological father in 2023.

Maverick City Music was ranked amongst the absolute top of gospel and worship music almost immediately after its inception in 2018. Not only are the individual members (originally from Atlanta) brimming with talent; their music appeals to a wide audience. The boundaries between gospel, R&B, worship and more fade away when the group comes together. Today, songs like ‘Promises’ and ‘Jireh’ are being sung all over the world. A few years ago, Maverick City, together with Elevation Worship, presented their record “Old Church Basement”, and shortly after that they worked together with Kirk Franklin.

At the start of the presale, a limited number of tickets for the “Kingdom” tour will be offered at a discounted price. But that’s not the only reason to act quickly; it’s shaping up to be a full house at Ahoy!
