Aside from Music 678NATH aka Nathan Thomas has an incredible background of playing rugby for Harlequins RFU. Coming from a background where rugby isn’t as desirable as football, he has done immensely well to be selected to represent England IPF 7’s, in the months leading up to 2016 Olympic Games and later being selected to represent England counties U’20’s two years In a row (2017 and 2018).
Nathan, now known as 678NATH is passionate about a lot of things but being able to bring hope, joy and a different sound to the community is what drives him. Check our his responses below to a few quick questions from us:
Tell us a bit about your single ‘Howler’ and the inspiration behind it.
“HOWLER came from a place of being bold and unashamed of who you are and whose you are. But it also serves as a reminder to me that despite everything in the past, people doubting, people not believing, the only thing and person that stayed true and consistent is Christ. And if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it through everything I went through and wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today.”
Who influences your music style?
“There’s a lot of things. I think life and what I’m experiencing is the main thing, although it’s not a person. Guvna B, what he’s done within the CHH community and being the person we all look up to, is inspiring. He may not directly influence my style but he definitely influences the way I go about things.”
What drives you to make music?
“The fact that I have a voice. When I got saved there weren’t many voices within the Christian scene I felt I could relate to and that drove me back out into the circular space. Another thing that drives me is the ability to use my music to spread the gospel, to get into spaces, to meet and impact people who I can build relationships with, in the hope of them one day coming to know Christ.
If you had a chance to work with any one person, who would it be?
“There’s a few people I’d love to work with. Really love the sound of Zauntee. Came across his song ‘God Taught Me’ when I first got saved so the chance to work with him would be really special. Huvley is also someone who’s sound I really rock with. His song ‘Beautiful’ was really moving and his video concept has definitely influenced my thought process for future visuals. Someone who’s also caught my attention is Alex Jean. His tape ‘Heaven On Earth’ has been on repeat and I think he and I would create some absolute bangers.”
Can you tell us any future plans you have for your music?
“Life’s been full on but I’ve been in the studio working, so a tape is something you can expect from your boy.”
